About the Event
Limitless Hockey League would be a special needs hockey program targeting ages 7-12 in the Fox
Valley area. The mission of Limitless Hockey League would be to break down barriers and make the
sport of hockey accessible to all children, creating an opportunity for all children to learn, grow and
thrive both on and off the ice. The league would be centered around inclusivity, empowerment and
providing opportunity for all children to participate in the great game of ice hockey, regardless of
their limitations. Limitless Hockey League aims to create a supportive and welcoming environment
through partnership with Fox Valley Youth Hockey, Appleton Area Hockey Association and Inspire
Sports.
The league would target children with special needs between the ages of 7 and 12. The league would
need to provide various adaptations and accommodations to ensure that children with diverse
needs can fully participate. This might include one to one support on the ice, modified equipment
(such as lighter sticks or adaptive sleds for players with mobility impairments), and drill adaptation.
The league would provide standard hockey equipment for all participants including; helmet, elbow
pads, shoulder pads, shin guards, neck guard, and skates. This gear will remain with the child
through the 4 week program. The gear will be housed in a bag labeled with the child’s name which
will stay at the rink; thus negating the need for an equipment rental fee (if at TCIA; bags can be
stored in the old figure skating room and if at AFIC; bags can be stored in the equipment room).
All guardians of participants will be required to sign a waiver and release before participating on the
ice.
